On Friday, September 17, Peddler’s Village welcomes the Founders Tours Car Show 2010 “Fahrten und Reisen Durch Pennsylvania” produced by “FARTS”, the “FRIENDS” of Ancient Road Transportation. The car show will be held from 5-8 p.m. on the Street Road Green across the street from The Golden Plough Inn.

All the vehicles are pre-World War 1 and are very valuable and rare.  It is an exceptional opportunity to see a collection like this all at one location, featuring such extraordinary vehicles as 1913 Alco from Boca Raton, FL 1914 Silver Ghost from Larchmont, NY, a 1914 Peugeot from Key Largo, FL, and a 1907 Pierce Great Arrow from Wyckoff, NJ.

While at the car show, visitors can enjoy the 32nd Annual Scarecrow Competition and Display, featuring colorful scarecrow creations on outdoor public exhibit through October. More than 120 of these larger-than-life pieces of American folk art line the winding brick paths of Peddler’s Village, delighting guests of all ages with their whimsy and imagination.

Peddler’s Village has been a popular leisure destination for more than four decades, attracting nearly 3 million visitors annually and consisting of 70 quality specialty shops, 6 restaurants, the 70-room Golden Plough Inn, Giggleberry Fair family entertainment center and year round events all set on 42 acres of landscaped gardens and winding brick pathways. Peddler’s Village is pleased to announce that Matthew Knol, General Manager of the Golden Plough Inn at Peddler’s Village, was nominated for the  Spirit of Hospitality 2010 Innkeeper of the Year Award by the Pennsylvania Tourism & Lodging Association (PTLA).

Matt was recognized as one of only two nominees during the Pennsylvania Tourism & Lodging Association’s (PTLA) Annual Spirit of Hospitality Awards Dinner at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel on Monday, April 26. J. Mickey Rowley, deputy secretary of the Pennsylvania Tourism Office, and James Purdum CHA, General Manager of the Penn State Hospitality Services and Chair of the PTLA Board, officiated the awards presentation. The PTLA presents the Spirit of Hospitality Awards as a means of recognizing outstanding performance, commitment and achievements in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Matt  has demonstrated a dedication to the lodging and hospitality industry throughout his educational program and 22-year career in the hotel industry. He began his hospitality career after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University in 1988. Prior to the Golden Plough Inn, Matthew served as General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott in Bensalem, PA and Assistant General Manager with the Holiday Inn in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Matt  has had a long involvement in both local and national organizations that support the lodging, tourism and hospitality industries. He is an active participant and has consistently assumed a leadership role in the local tourism organization and chamber of commerce. He is committed to supporting the unique historical heritage of Bucks County and helped to found a local historical society. Most recently, he has worked with state and local tourism officials to save the nationally recognized Christmas Day “Crossing of the Delaware” at Washington Crossing Historic Park.

The PTLA exists to advocate, support, promote and enhance the tourism and lodging industry within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
